Cuts and Scrapes

A band-aid is good enough for a minor scrape or cut. However, when you have a deep cut, you need to get it examined by a medical team to determine if you need stitches or other treatments.

Stitches

If you have a wound or a laceration, then time is of essence to get it seen by a medical professional and get stitches if needed. The longer you leave it exposed, the higher the risk of infection. Here are some things to pay attention to:

  • If the cut or scrape is deep (more than half an inch)
  • If the cut is on a joint
  • If blood is spurting from the cut/scrape (this might mean a damage to the artery)
  • If the bleeding isn't letting up
