Things To Know About Sports Physicals
So why do you need a sports physical?
Most kids are anxious to get in the game. A sports physical, also called a Pre-Participation Exam (PPE) allows a medical professional to determine if your child is healthy enough to participate in sports and reduce the likelihood of sports related injuries.
So what exactly is a sports physical?
A sports physical is a check-up to assess your child's health and fitness as it relates to a sport. During the sports physical, the health care provider looks for any diseases or injuries that could make it unsafe to participate in sports by reviewing the family's medical history to ensure additional tests are performed if necessary.
What's included in a sports physical?
A physical usually takes between 15 to 20 minutes. During the exam, the provider checks and reviews:
Joints and flexibility
